Enrichment Classes

Millsaps Enrichment offers 70 short-term, fun, noncredit classes. It’s your chance to try art classes, writing classes, or maybe guitar, harmonica or songwriting.  Go to www.millsaps.edu/conted for a full schedule or pick up a printed brochure outside AC 100. All enrichment classes are half price for Millsaps students, faculty and staff. Classes begin the week of September 23rd!


Classes Being Offered:

Yoga will be held in the aerobics room for 12 weeks beginning on Sept. 24. Times the class meets are Tuesdays, 6-7:15 p.m. Cost is $140 ($70 for you) and instructor Sally Holly is a very experienced and certified yoga and fitness teacher.  


Zumba will be held on the Millsaps campus Sept. 25-Oct. 30, Wednesdays 6-7 p.m.  Cost is $60 ($30 for you) and instructor is Ashleigh Risher.

Line Dancing will be on six Monday nights, Sept. 23-Oct. 28, 6-7 p.m. on the campus.  Sandra Plunkett is the instructor and cost is $80 ($40 for you)

Intro to Ballroom Dancing will meet on four Monday nights, 7-8 p.m., Oct.  7-28.  Cost is $100 per person ($50 for you) and instructors are Mike and Lisa Day. This class will be held at Dance Connection Studio in Pearl.

Amnesty International Event


Amnesty International Human Rights Group is kicking off the semester with Grace Notes Karaoke Night at CS's!
The event will be held Friday September 20th from 8PM-10PM at CS's restaurant right across from Millsaps (address is 1359 1/2 N West St, Jackson, MS 39202 )
Karaoke all night! Teacher Auctions willl also be held. Students can buy a teacher to sing a song!
This event is a fundraiser for Grace House and an HIV/AIDS awareness event!
$2 entrance fee.

1st Call for Robinson International Fellowships


The Office of International Education (OIE) is now accepting applications for the 1st round of the 2013-14 Judy and E.B. Robinson, Jr., International Fellows Program. This call is only for students applying to do a Winter 2013-14 faculty-led program OR the Galapagos (Summer 2014) program.

Criteria for Fellowships:
  • Current Millsaps undergraduate student
  • Have attended Millsaps for 1 full semester before applying
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Any class year EXCEPT seniors graduating prior to program (Dec. 2013 for Winter programs; May 2014 for Galapagos)
  • Strong evidence of financial need*
  • No prior Robinson support
* Evidence of financial need will be determined based on data from the applicant’s FAFSA, as submitted to the College for this academic year.

Deadline for 1st call Robinson application: Tuesday, October 1, 2013, by 5:00 pm. Complete attached application and return in hard copy form to: Tanya Newkirk, Office of International Education, Box #150645 (or bring to OIE, SH 248).

Mathematics Honorary – Pi Mu  Epsilon

 Gayla Dance is the Chapter Advisor of Pi Mu Epsilon, the mathematics honorary, and they are about to begin the process of evaluating students for new membership.

 Students will qualify for this honorary if they have:
  • completed Cal 2 (Math 2230),
  • completed either three other math college classes (any level) OR one other math class which is above the level of Cal 2 (so numbered above 2230)
  • have an overall math gpa of at least a 3.0, and who are
  • in the top 1/3 of their class overall

 If you are interested in Pi Mu Epsilon and think you might meet the above, please email me.  I will check with Records and those who are interested which do indeed meet the eligibility requirements will be invited to join.  Please respond by Friday, September 20th.

1 Campus 1 Community



Interested in volunteering? Join the 1C1C Leadership Team! 1C1C Leadership Team members mobilize their peers to get engaged in the community, facilitate 1C1C annual activities and events for the campus, and participate in capacity building meetings once or twice per month.

The 1C1C Leadership Team offers all kinds of opportunities for involvement in volunteering.  Members can coordinate projects and help facilitate events such as reading fairs at Brown Elementary, MLK Play and Serve, the Holiday Education Supply Drive, the annual Block Party, as well as facilitate engagement opportunities for other students through the Millsaps Volunteer Project.
We now have a rolling application process, so any Sophomore, Junior, or Senior can submit an application at any time!
