Enrichment Series
Great time to learn Ballroom Dancing for half price!

Millsaps Community Enrichment Series offers an intro ballroom class on  Monday nights, Oct. 1-22,  7-8 p.m.  The class introduces you to the six basic ballroom dances-waltz, foxtrot, swing, cha cha, rumba  and tango. Instructors are Mike and Lisa Day and classes will be held at Dance Connection Studio in Pearl.  Directions will be provided upon registration. Class is normally $100 but for Millsaps students the cost is only $50 per person. Come by AC 100 to register today!

Departmental Recital in the Recital Hall

On the first Monday of each month at 3 pm there is a Departmental Recital in the Recital Hall.  This gives the music students an opportunity to share their talents and the Millsaps community the privilege to hear them perform.  Please begin adding this to the StudentNews for that week.  If you would like to list those participating we can furnish you with that information as the recital gets closer.  There is a recital next Monday, October 1st.

Sukkot In The Bowl

Sponsored by the Jewish Cultural Organization

A Heritage Reviewable Event
October 1st at 4:30pm in the Bowl


Come help JCO celebrate Sukkot and welcome in the harvest and season of joy!
We will be putting up a Sukkah (a special fall booth) to sit, eat, and study in for seven days.
Rabbi Marshal Klaven will be there to explain the traditions and perform the special prayers and ritual.
This is a HERITAGE REVIEWABLE EVENT that will be lots of fun with food and learning for all.

The 2012 Else Forum Speaker


Steve Battista, Director of Creative for Under Armour, will be speaking to Millsaps students – and answering questions - on Thursday, October 4 at 10:00 a.m. in AC 215. This session is open to all Millsaps students. In both 2009 and 2010, Mr. Battista earned a spot in Sports Business Journal’s prestigious “Forty Under 40” club. The year 2008 saw Mr. Battista name to Ad Age’s “Marketing 50” award for The New Prototype Superbowl Campaign. In addition to several advertising awards, he received Towson University’s Distinguished Alumni Recognition Award from its College of Liberal Arts in the same year. • completed either three other math college classes (any level) OR one other math class which is above the level of Cal 2 (so numbered above 2230)
• have an overall math gpa of at least a 3.0, and who are
• in the top 1/3 of their class overall
qualify for this honorary

This is a great way to get involved with other students who share your interests! We will be serving pizza for lunch! Anyone who is interested is invited to join us - we plan to elect officers, eat pizza, and set up a plan for the year. If you think you MIGHT be interested just come on out and get some information. The Gamma Zeta chapter of Delta Delta Delta is hosting a safety seminar for every single female on campus and the surrounding area! Come listen to nationally recognized speakers as they come and teach us all how to profile an attacker, know when it is time to fight for your life and how to use a personal safety device. Also, if you like what you see in the personal safety device there will be some on sale afterwards!

• Vehicle must display a current decal (for 12-13 academic year)
• You must obey Zone regulations:
o Residents are NOT PERMITTED to park under AC between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
o NO Students are allowed to park in Whitworth/Sanders circle during the work week.
o South residents are NOT PERMITTED in North lots between 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Mon-Fri.
o North residents are NOT PERMITTED on South side from Thursday at 8 p.m. – Sunday at 12 p.m.
o Drivers must have a state-issued Handicapped placard to park in spaces reserved for handicapped drivers
o Drivers are NOT PERMITTED to park in Fire Zones (Red curb or marking) or No Parking Zones (Yellow curb or marking)
• Penalties include fines; wheel lock; having your vehicle towed (at the driver’s expense); conduct charges for repeat/egregious offenses

NOW INTRODUCING the SAPS LOYALTY CARD

HOW DOES IT WORK: Pick up your SAPS loyalty card at Band in the Bowl or from a member of SAPS for your card. Bring your card to every SAPS event. during the event members of the SAPS executive board will come around and punch your loyalty card. At the end of the semester, you will turn in the card; students with the most punches will be entered in for a drawing to win prizes!
