Bebe Wolfe lecture, 11:30, Dec. 5, AC-335

Bebe Wolfe, daughter of Karl and Mildred Wolfe and an artist at the Wolfe Studio, will present a talk about her parents’ work in the Academic Complex Room 335 on Thursday, December 5, at 11:30am

An exhibit of 20 paintings by the Wolfes showcases original work held by Millsaps College along with artifacts and memorabilia loaned to the library by Bebe Wolfe.  The exhibit is in the Archives Gallery of the Millsaps-Wilson Library and will remain open until May 9, 2014.  Portraits of Eudora Welty and three college presidents are included along with other portraits, landscapes, ceramics, mosaics, and photographs.  The exhibit may be viewed any time the library is open.

“I am more and more impressed as I grow older, by the things my parents were able to accomplish in their lifetimes and by their joy and aliveness and the vibrancy of the work they left behind.” Bebe Wolfe

Karl Wolfe (1904-1984) and Mildred Nungester Wolfe (1912-2009) were the only art teachers at Millsaps from 1946 to 1969  and left an enduring influence on their students.

“Skill is not what we want in an artist- we want soul, and next to soul, thought…at Millsaps we reach for the highest level…in reaching we stretch and enlarge our souls.”Karl Wolfe.

Writing Center Tutoring Positions, 2014-15

The application deadline for a position in the Writing Center is Friday, December 13th.

If you are interested in becoming a Writing Center Tutor, you must submit a letter of interest and a confidential and sealed letter of recommendation from your Core 1 instructor (or, if you are a second year student or above, an instructor from your current semester who can speak to your writing ability) to the Writing Program office in John Stone Hall by 4:30 pm on December 13th.  In addition to your application materials, the essays in your Writing Portfolio will also be evaluated as part of the application process.  A successful candidate will usually score "Well Above Proficient" at the Core 1 evaluation point.
