ANNOUNCEMENTS...

STOLEN RUNNING SHOES
Hello fellow Millsaps students,
Unfortunately sometime between 3pm yesterday and 4pm today my running shoes were stolen from underneath my car where they were drying from a particularly muddy run.  I run both track and cross country for the school and the only thing I really need for practice are those shoes. It may not seem like such a big deal to a lot of people, but, although they may not look like it, those shoes were brand new and running on old shoes will cause my arches to collapse and various subsequent injuries. Good running shoes are expensive, and due to the fact that my phone was also stolen recently, I don't exactly have the funding to buy new ones. I ask that if anyone has my shoes, knows who has them, or where they are to please email me back and let me know. If you have my shoes and do not wish to give them back to me in person, please set them back underneath the car from where you took them (they are gray, black, yellow and white Mizunos). My car is a Toyota Landcruiser parked between Charles and the frat houses. I cannot explain how desperately I need those shoes, all anger at the fact that somebody stole them will be forgotten as soon as I get them back.
Thanks so much,
Sara Sacks

NSSE SURVEY FOR FRESHMEN AND SENIORS
What? The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) asks college freshmen and seniors to respond to a series of questions regarding their educational experiences. Nationally over 761 institutions and more than 416,000 students participated in NSSE last year.
Why? NSSE responses are used by faculty and administrators to improve your educational experiences. By understanding what you feel you have gained from your college education, Millsaps College can pinpoint and address areas that need improvement, both in and out of the classroom.
Who? Millsaps is sending online NSSE Surveys to freshmen and seniors in Spring 2012. (The most recent email went out Tuesday, February 21.)
Let your voice be heard! If you receive an invitation to participate in NSSE 2012, please fill out the survey and make your opinion count!

SUMMERS LECTURE TO FEATURE LEADING SCHOLAR ON EARLY CHRISTIANITY

You’ve seen him on Jon Stewart, Colbert, and CNN. Now see him at Millsaps.
Bart D. Ehrman will give a free, public lecture “The Greatest Stories Rarely Told: Forgeries in the New Testament” on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Ford Academic Complex Recital Hall as part of the Summers Lecture Series. Ehrman is a world renowned scholar on early Christianity. The lecture is based on his most recent book, and New York Times best-seller, Forged: Writing in the Name of God—Why the Bible’s Authors Are Not Who We Think They Are. Ehrman is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the author of hundreds of articles and more than 20 books, including four New York Times bestsellers, and has been featured in Time, The New Yorker, and appears on NBC’s Dateline, The Daily Show, CNN, National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, and NPR. “Ehrman’s book is a tour de force and is as exhilarating as it is shocking. It transforms the literary and cultural contexts of the New Testament from dry background into a real world pastiche that is bursting with color,” said Bennie H. Reynolds, visiting assistant professor of religious studies at Millsaps College.
The Summers Lecture is an annual lectureship sponsored by the Millsaps College Department of Religious Studies. For more information, please contact Dr. James E. Bowley at james.bowley@millsaps.edu or 601-974-1328.
