Panel discussion after Distracted on November 9.
After the Nov. 9 performance of Distracted, we will hold a panel discussion during which audience members may ask questions to experts. The panel will be of interest to students of psychology, sociology, neuroscience, pre-health, and education – and to anyone who has personal experience with ADHD. Panelists include Dr. Molly S. Clark, assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and adjunct education professor at Millaps; Dr. Katie Hahn, clinical psychology professor at Millsaps; a Millsaps student who grew up with ADHD; and a parent of a child with ADHD. The facilitator will be Dr. Stacy DeZutter, assistant professor of education at Millsaps.
What's wrong with nine-year-old Jesse? He can't sit still, he curses, he raps, and you can't get him into—or out of—pajamas. His teacher thinks its Attention Deficit Disorder. Dad says, "He's just a boy!" And Mama's on a quest for answers. Is Jesse dysfunctional, or just different? Don't we all have ADD, to some degree?
